SAFETY

Talkish is not a dating app.

To keep Talkish a place for people who want to learn, three safeguards are built in from the start.

18+, learning only

Talkish is for people aged 18 and over. Using it for dating or romantic purposes is prohibited by our terms of service.

Report & block

Block anyone who doesn't feel right, right away. Reporting behavior that breaks the rules is built into the app, too.

Every account is phone-verified

Creating a Talkish account requires SMS phone verification. It's not a place where anyone can spin up endless anonymous accounts with just an email address.

Feeling safe to speak is what keeps you learning. Talkish is, and will stay, a place for language learners.

When does Talkish launch?
As soon as we're ready — waitlist members get invited first.
Which languages are supported?
Profiles and partner search support a wide range of languages. We're building the community around the Japanese ⇄ English pair first, and expanding from there. (In-app translation is available for a subset of languages.)
Is it free?
Everything you need to exchange languages — partner search, chat, core translation — is free, with no ads. Paid plans will only cover the study side (like expanded Passages).
Who is Talkish for?
Language learners aged 18 and over. Talkish is for language learning and exchange — using it for dating or romantic purposes is against our terms of service.
What will you do with my email address?
We'll only use it to notify you about the launch and occasional (infrequent) progress updates. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email. See our Waitlist Privacy Policy for details.
Which devices?
Both iOS and Android are planned.
